Who I Am & How I Work

I am 25 years old and graduated from Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas on May 25th 2000. I have cerebral palsy, and am non-ambulatory and non-verbal in the traditional sense. I get around in a wheelchair with assistance, or in a large walker, or with someone supporting me and providing balance so I can walk.

I communicate by saying "yeah", by a variety of gestures, and by spelling words on an alphabet board a friend of mine made for me. I also have some electronic communication devices I use sometimes.

The most important thing to know about me is that I understand everything people say. So I like to be treated as you would any other young person, because I am "normal" except for my neurological disability.

I have a good friend who helps me with transportation and all the other things I need help with, such as eating, going to movies and concerts, bowling, and our annual trip to the NASCAR races in Ft. Worth, Texas.

I attend The Lakeway Church, which is an ecumenical Christian church. Because of my CP it sometimes takes me a while to respond to a comment or a question. I look forward to hearing your prayer and message requests and writing to you, but if I don't write back immediately I hope you will understand.
